Terms of Use

Last updated: 20 October 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of OptiCV, the web application at app.opticv.net and the website at opticv.net (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.

1. Who we are

The Service is provided by Monika Dembek, a natural person, ul. Lenartowicza 22/4, 85-133 Bydgoszcz, Poland (“OptiCV”, “we”, “us”). Email: opticvapp@gmail.com.

2. What OptiCV does

OptiCV is an online tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help you:

  • tailor your CV to a specific job description and optimize it for applicant tracking systems (ATS);
  • estimate how well your CV matches a job description (ATS score) and find missing keywords;
  • generate cover letters, interview preparation material and LinkedIn profile content;
  • download the results as documents.

The features and usage limits of each plan are described in the app and on our website (opticv.net).

3. Who can use the Service

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
  • If you are under 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you need the permission of a parent or legal guardian to buy a paid plan.
  • The Service is intended for individuals (consumers) using it for their own job search.

4. Technical requirements

To use the Service you need:

  • a device with internet access;
  • an up-to-date version of a common web browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge) with JavaScript and local storage enabled;
  • an active email account, so you can receive sign-in codes;
  • software that can open PDF or DOCX files, to use downloaded documents.

Like any internet service, using the Service involves general risks, such as malware or interception of data sent over the internet. We reduce these risks with encryption (HTTPS) and other security measures. You should also keep your device and email account secure.

5. Your account

  • You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address. There is no password. Anyone with access to your email inbox can sign in to your account, so keep your email secure.
  • Your account is personal. Don't share it, and don't create several accounts to get around plan limits.
  • Creating an account concludes an agreement with us for an indefinite period, for the free use of the Service (Free plan). Buying a paid plan concludes a separate subscription agreement (section 6).

6. Plans, subscriptions and payment

6.1 Plans

We offer a Free plan and paid monthly subscription plans (currently Basic and Pro). Each plan has the features and usage limits shown in the app and on our website at the time you subscribe.

6.2 Prices and payment

  • Prices are shown in the app, on our website and on the checkout page before you pay, together with any taxes that apply.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. You pay in advance for each monthly billing period, with a payment method Stripe accepts.
  • We may offer promotion codes or discounts under the conditions shown with them.

6.3 Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically every month, and we charge your payment method at the start of each new billing period, until you cancel.

6.4 Cancelling

You can cancel at any time in Settings → Manage billing. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, and then your account moves to the Free plan. Apart from your right of withdrawal (section 7) and your statutory rights, we don't refund payments for billing periods that have already started.

6.5 Failed payments

If a payment fails, Stripe will try to charge your payment method again, and we will let you know in the app. If the payment still can't be collected, we may move your account to the Free plan.

6.6 Price changes

We may change subscription prices. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to you. The new price applies from your next billing period after that date. If you don't agree with it, you can cancel before it takes effect.

7. Right of withdrawal (14 days)

If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA or the UK, you have the right to withdraw from the subscription agreement within 14 days of the day you first subscribe to a paid plan, without giving any reason. The same rule applies to everyone else as a voluntary guarantee.

To withdraw, send us a clear statement (for example, by email to opticvapp@gmail.com) before the 14-day period ends. You can use the model form at the end of these Terms, but you don't have to.

When you subscribe, you ask us to start providing the paid plan immediately, during the withdrawal period. If you withdraw, we will nevertheless refund the full amount of your first payment. We will refund you within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal, using the same payment method you used, at no cost to you. Your account will then move to the Free plan.

Automatic monthly renewals don't start a new withdrawal period. You can cancel future renewals at any time (section 6.4).

8. Your content

  • You keep all rights to the CVs, job descriptions and other content you upload (“Your Content”), and to the documents the Service generates for you.
  • You give us permission to store, process and transform Your Content (including by sending it to our AI provider) only as needed to provide the Service to you. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
  • You confirm that you have the right to upload Your Content and that it doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights. Only upload other people's personal data (such as a referee's contact details) if you are allowed to share it.

9. AI-generated content: important information

The Service uses AI to generate suggestions. Please keep the following in mind:

  • Always review the output. AI can make mistakes. It may misread your CV, leave out information, or add details that are wrong or invented. Check everything before you use it.
  • You are responsible for the truthfulness of your CV. Only include skills, experience, qualifications and keywords that honestly describe you. Don't add a suggested keyword or achievement unless it is true. Misrepresenting your experience to an employer can have serious consequences, and we are not responsible for it.
  • The ATS score is an estimate. It is based on our own analysis of how well your CV matches a job description. It doesn't reproduce any specific employer's applicant tracking system, which all work differently.
  • No guarantee of results. We can't guarantee that you will get an interview, a job offer or any particular salary. Hiring decisions are made by employers and depend on many factors outside our control.
  • Not professional advice. The content the Service generates is general guidance. It is not legal, immigration, financial or professional career advice.
  • Output may not be unique. Other users may receive similar suggestions, especially for common phrases and keywords.

10. Acceptable use

When using the Service, you must not:

  • break any law, or use the Service to commit fraud or impersonate someone else;
  • create false credentials or deliberately misleading documents to deceive employers;
  • upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory or offensive, or that infringes someone else's rights;
  • upload malware, or try to disrupt, overload or break into the Service or its infrastructure;
  • use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access the Service, or try to reverse engineer it, except where the law allows it;
  • get around plan limits, for example by creating multiple accounts;
  • resell the Service, or give others access to it, without our written permission.

11. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, texts, templates and the “OptiCV” name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms for as long as you have an account. This doesn't give you any other rights in the Service. You may freely use the documents you generate for your own job applications.

12. Availability and changes to the Service

We work to keep the Service available and running well, but there may be interruptions, for example for maintenance or because of problems with our providers. We may develop and change the Service, including adding or removing features. If a change significantly limits a paid plan you are subscribed to, we will tell you in advance. You can then cancel, and get a proportional refund for the unused part of the billing period you've paid for.

13. Complaints and your statutory rights

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights if the Service doesn't conform to the agreement (under Polish law, the Consumer Rights Act, and in your country, any mandatory consumer law that applies to you). These Terms don't limit those rights.

You can send a complaint to opticvapp@gmail.com. Please include your account email, a description of the problem and what you would like us to do. We will reply within 14 days.

If you are a consumer in Poland, you can also get free help from your local consumer ombudsman (miejski or powiatowy rzecznik konsumentów) or from consumer organizations. More information is available at uokik.gov.pl. Consumers in other EU countries can contact the European Consumer Centre in their country.

14. Liability

  • We are responsible for providing the Service with reasonable care and skill, as described in these Terms.
  • We are not responsible for decisions you or employers make based on content generated by the Service, or for content you upload or choose to use (see section 9). We are also not responsible for losses we could not reasonably foresee, or that are caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
  • Where the law allows it, our total liability to you under these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that can't be limited or excluded by law, including liability for damage caused intentionally, for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

15. Ending the agreement

  • By you: you can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting your account permanently deletes your data, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you have a paid plan, deleting your account cancels it immediately. It won't renew and you won't be charged again. The unused part of the current billing period is not refunded, but your right of withdrawal (section 7) still applies.
  • By us: we may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms (for example section 10), after warning you and giving you a chance to fix the problem, unless the breach is so serious, or so harmful to us or others, that we need to act immediately. We may also end the free agreement with 30 days' notice by email, for example if we stop offering the Service. If we end a paid subscription for reasons other than your breach, we will refund the unused part of the billing period you've paid for.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms for valid reasons, such as changes in the law, changes to the Service or its features, changes to our providers, or to improve security or clarity. We will tell you about changes by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account and cancel your subscription before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that date, the new Terms will apply.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, this doesn't take away the protection given to you by the mandatory laws of the country where you live. You can bring a claim in the courts of that country or in the Polish courts. Before going to court, please contact us first. We'll try to resolve the problem with you.
